As we studied Mao's campaigns and a dramatic shift from Mao to Deng, it seems the current China is no longer China of the past. On the other hand, China is doing exactly what they have been doing. The government reaches out to the people (it means monitoring everyone) and forcefully regulate such a powerful enterprise like Alibaba with a single whip. Yet, China's significant improvement of environment, China's regulation to super rich people like IT or real estate tycoon is almost exactly what American liberals want to achieve here in the United States. Recently China tries to regulate excessive competition and costly education of the people, controlling the time to play on the Internet games to stop game addiction, making the rich to share their profits to the people. All these can be a trait started from Mao's time. So, what do you think? Did China change? Or is it the extension of what China has been since 1949?
